what is Deconstruction?

Deconstruction (Decon) is a service provided by the Our Towns ReStores to carefully remove kitchen cabinets, counter-tops and appliances prior to a remodel. The Deconstruction team completes the removal at no charge with the donation of the items to the Our Towns ReStores. Decon also helps prevent thousands of pounds of removed cabinets, countertops and more from ending up in a landfill!

Because there is no charge and the Deconstruction team saves homeowners hundreds of dollars in contractor fees, we do kindly ask for a donation to be made to Our Towns Habitat.

a little more about Deconstruction

  • All work is done by our skilled and insured Deconstruction staff.
  • A no-cost alternative to traditional contractor removal provided by the Our Town ReStores to carefully remove kitchen cabinets, appliances, vanities, fixtures, windows, doors and other requested items before a remodel.
  • All items must be in good condition, approved by our Deconstruction staff during an in-home consultation.
  • Items removed from your home will be transported to a ReStore the same day, which means no mess in your home, garage or front yard!
  • Donor receives a tax receipt for the donation of items (the value of which is determined by donor), plus tax acknowledgment for any additional monetary donation made to Our Towns Habitat for Humanity to help keep Deconstruction services at no cost.
  • Just like the sales of items donated by dropping off at the physical locations, all proceeds from donated Deconstruction items sold in the North Mecklenburg and Iredell county ReStores also benefit Our Towns Habitat.
